Got to thinking, if you carried a book that let you summon all manner of primals, reading those pages would probably be hazardous to your health.. took that idea and ran with it. Wanted to create something kind of smoky, a bit cursed and maybe a bit unknowable. But there's not really anything that's subtle. Nothing specifically evil, just wanted a spooky priest keeping a cursed book. Someone's gotta.
